Mechanism of wet deformations of silicate autoclave cellular concretes
Specimens of aerated silicates were subjected to hydrothermal treatment by steam at 8 atm and 174.5C; amount of water absorbed and desorbed during treatment and associated swelling and shrinkage (SS) effects were determined using glass vacuum apparatus; it is concluded that properties of calcium hydrosilicate crystals play major role in SS of these building materials.
