Elastic stability of tapered beam-columns
Mathematical model for determining critical values of axial load and end moment in elastic range for tapered wide flange beam-columns is derived; model is developed by means of equilibrium analysis of buckled deflected shape of beam-column; solutions for mathematical model are obtained by means of finite differences; results of this analysis are presented in form of interaction equation; use of equation for determining critical loads is demonstrated by design example.
