Design of precast reinforced concrete columns for factory blocks at Ranipur in accordance with Soviet practice
Columns were used in shops with bays up to 24 m wide and crane capacities up to 30 tons; column has roof leg 500×500 mm in section and 4.097 m high; below roof leg is crane cap, 700 mm deep; column has two legs; each leg is 500 to 250 mm in section; they are joined together by stiffeners 400 mm deep spaced at regular intervals of 1450 mm or 175 mm; method of design adopted for stiffeners, crane cap and pocket is set forth; calculation is based on ultimate load theory.
