Incendivity of rubbing friction between steel and rock
Aim was to study possibility of ignition of firedamp by rubbing friction; coal, brick and rocks from various Hokkaido coal measures were rubbed for 5 min in presence of 6.5% methane-air mixture; maximum temperature reached as result of rubbing action was measured by photo-resistor and frictional force by torque meter; observations are interpreted in terms of formation of hot spot on sample surface, softening and ignition phenomena. In Japanese with English abstract.
