Sea City -- Project for year 2120
Description of project proposed by Pilkington Glass Age Development Committee, which is financed by Pilkington Brothers Ltd, for Sea City which would be built in many parts of world over shoals where tidal range is low; project for siting one for 30,000 people off Norfolk coast has been worked out; 180-ft high protective wall is designed to deflect winds, leaving area of calm inside; waves are damped by floating breakwater surrounding wall, and city entrance is protected by curtain of bubbles from underwater pipe line; terraced city is constructed on inner face of wall, mainly of concrete and glass; photographs of model and of power complex in wall are included; design and construction of city are discussed.
