Dynamic characteristics of infilled frames
Experimental determination of damping and experimental and theoretical methods for determining natural frequencies and mode shapes of frames; damping is expressed as coefficient of equivalent viscous damping, which is obtained by half-cyclic load tests on infilled frames both with and without shear connectors, and by forced vibration tests; experimental observations indicate that frames behave more like cantilever than shear structure; empirical formula given by G.W.Housner and A.G.Brady for finding period of vibration of multi-story shear wall buildings is considered in relation to results obtained.
