Design of Harmsen viaduct over Europoort road in Netherland in which use is made of lightweight concrete for mid-span section, reducing dead weight and simplifying foundation design; end supports of viaduct are formed by inclined struts which are set approximately at right angles to earth slope and which, in combination with reinforced concrete revetment forming integral part of structural system, provide V-shaped supporting structure.
