Construction of reinforced and plain concrete arches and arch bridges without use of centering
For reinforced concrete arch bridges, use of centering is not justified; monolithic nature and remarkable rigidity of reinforced concrete arches allow their construction in temporary position thus allowing engineers to dispense with heavy and costly centering; half-arches or quarter-arches constructed in vertical position above springing points are lowered into position under conditions which prevent any deformation.
