Preformed elastomeric bridge joint sealers
Sealer material and design of bridge seals; deficiencies of joint sealing methods currently used are delineated; questionable design and construction practices are exposed and new design and construction methods offered; analysis based on continuous field observations indicates that, primarily due to inadequate construction practices, current sealing system shows signs of failure; this type of sealer can be made to function properly, provided methods of design and application are revised to comply with inherent characteristics of product.
