Die erdbebensichere Bohrpfahlgruendung der Volta-Bruecke in Ghana
Earthquake-resistant cast-in-place bored pile foundation of Volta bridge in Ghana; piers of 17-span 646 m long bridge were founded each on 7.7×7.7 m pile cluster consisting of eight vertical piles and eight inclined piles, latter to take up horizontal seismic stresses; 8.5 to 16.75 m long, 1.10 m diam reinforced concrete piles were sunk into river bed with help of Salzgitter wash boring machine provided with cone roller bit, and Bode concrete piping machine; above equipment was applied for first time to inclined piles; description of equipment, and boring and concreting techniques.
