Fifteen story tower block described is part of Army Education Center, Beaconsfield, Great Britain; foundations consist of raft 5 ft thick and approximately 58×58 ft on plain; construction up to and including first floor is of reinforced concrete and provides platform for external and internal loadbearing brick walls; external walls are of cavity construction and consist of 4 1/2 in. of facing brick with crushing strength of 7000 lb ft/sq in. and internal skin of 6 3/4 in. Calculon; with use of Calculon bricks considerable reduction in wall area on plan was obtained.
