Technique is suggested for rapid determination of efficient load capacity for high strength bolts used for single and double shear connections on thin supporting webs and similar material where bearing may control; method is claimed to be advantageous in building-type structures where both friction- and bearing-type connections can be used; examples of calculation; tables of bolt capacities are prepared for 3/4- and 7/8-in. diam A325 bolts in both single and double connections.
