Practical method of calculating freqiencies of free lateral vibrations is presented; general program for IBM 7040 is written and can solve for natural frequencies of lateral vibrations of any plane bar with not more than two segments meeting at any division point; numerical examples are given to demonstrate theory, and results are compared with available solutions.
