Elastic shear analysis of general prismatic beams
Procedure is developed for determination of transverse shear stress distribution, shear center location and shear deformation coefficients for prismatic beams with arbitrarily shaped cross sections; solution is based on elasticity analysis of end-loaded cantilever beam; solution to elasticity problem is developed by utilizing finite element concept in conjunction with theorem of minimum potential energy and Ritz technique.
