Strength and behavior of two-span continuous pretensioned concrete beams
Tests of 11 beams were made to study influence of bond between tendon and concrete, distribution of longitudinal reinforcement, presence or absence of web reinforcement, and moment-shear ratio on strength and behavior of beams; difference in role of moment-shear ratio factor in single span and continuous beams is discussed; beams tested were of I-section, continuous over two 9 ft spans, with 6 in. overhang; end blocks, 12×6 in. extended over 12 in. with chambered transition of I-section; prestress was released at 7 days with simultaneous release of vertical forces inducing drape.
