Flexural cracks in composite prestressed lightweight concrete beams
Six composite prestressed Lytag concrete beams and six identical beams of granite concrete were tested to failure and their cracking characteristics compared; flexural cracks in Lytag concrete beams were found to be smaller and more closely spaced than those in granite concrete beams; test results also indicate that new cracks appear at load near ultimate as result of incomplete monolithic action, thus reducing crack spacing.
