Flexural strength of encased beams
Simple procedure for calculating ultimate flexural strength of beams is described and results of tests conducted at Civil Engineering Dept of Indian Institute of Technology, Madras, which substantiate suggested procedure are presented; it is shown that encasement improves ultimate strength of steel beams to considerable extent depending on cover provided; increase is pronounced in case of continuous beams.
