Cohesionless soil samples by freezing
Technique for obtaining undisturbed cohesionless soil samples by freezing lower portion of material to form plug; freezing is accomplished by circulation of pure grain alcohol of -30 C temperature through chamber surrounding lower end of sampler; installation of this chamber requires sinking 10-in. casing down to top of stratum to be tested and inside this 6-in. pipe to depth at which sample is desired.
