A platform for research: civil engineering, architecture and urbanism
Trend away from frills in design has been accelerated by war conditions; steel is being reduced or entirely eliminated by minor changes in slab section and by improved spacing of expansion and contraction joints; treatment of cements to reduce effect of chemicals and frost action on pavement surfaces shows promising results.
