Method for measuring oxidation by means of potassium permanganate has been devised; it is claimed to be fast and precise, and requires no special apparatus; correlation with pavement service has been established in several instances; effect of air blowing on asphalts is still obscure; method will differentiate between asphalts cracked at different levels and illustrates graphically, that cracking increased susceptibility to oxidation.
