Block-large, flat slab structure to utilize subsurface area in Union Square, San Francisco, as means of aiding parking problem in shopping district; adjacent streets temporarily supported by steel piles and timber sheathing; building is 412 by 275 ft; lower floor is 45 1/2 ft below ground surface; roof protection; bulkhead system; wales and sheathing; forms; concreting; stripping and curing.
