Twin drydocks constructed under water
Drydocks being built at eastern navy yard; H-bearing piles are driven so their tops are many feet below surface; huge sections of forms are set on harbor bottom and more than half million yards of concrete is being placed by tremie in 5 1/2 mo; concrete is mixed by double drum pavers and pumped to scows equipped with sliding tremie pipes for underwater placing. (see also Construction Methods v 24 n 11 Nov 1942 p 54-8, 104, 106, 108, 110-11, 113-14, 116-18 and 120)
