Numerical procedure for computing deflections, moments, and buckling loads
Computation of deflections and moments in beams and columns described; method is of particular applicability in determining critical buckling loads and configurations of bars of variable cross section loaded in various ways; numerical procedure is approximate, but leads to exact moments when loading diagram is made up of segments that are bounded by straight lines or by arcs of parabolas. (See also - n 5 May 1942 p 691-718 and (discussion) 782-7, n 6 (discussions) June p 1037-8, n 7 Sept p 1247-60, n 8 Oct p 1455-7)
