Tensile strength of balsa wood
Results of tensile tests on Balsa Wood, carried out at Nova Scotia Technical College, are reported; tensile strength, density and moisture content were measured; material tested was in thicknesses from .180 to .265 in.; three sets of tensile tests were carried out, distinguished by dimensions of test specimens and kind of grips used; tests were extension of similar study which was carried out for Eastern Spruce Species and is indexed from Essays on Timber of Timber Structures n 17-1966.
