Water-level fluctuations and flow in tidal inlets
Equations are derived to describe water motion in tidal inlet connecting ocean with relatively small basin; dimensionless resistance coefficient is introduced to express influence of inlet channel resistance on water motion; numerical method to solve equations is presented; numerical computations are carried out for Inlet of Macquarie Harbor, Tasmania; results, for case in which no fresh water inflow is considered, are compared with results obtained according to Keulegan's method and with results obtained with help of simplified (linear) set of equations; they appear to be in close agreement.
