Biological effects of spoil disposal in chesapeake bay
Field studies were made on biota of upper Chesapeake Bay under design related to shallow water disposal of channel sediments; no gross effects were observed on phytozooplankton, fish eggs and fish larvae of adult fishes; some bottom animals were smothered over wide area; several benthic species survived deposition, and certain species began repopulation soon after deposition.
