Transient elastic waves in fluid-filled cylinder
Using membrane and bending theories of thin elastic shells, analyses of early stages of water hammer are presented; some of restrictions of elementary one-dimensional theory are relaxed so that effects of radial components of acceleration of fluid and of shell can be assessed; finite Hankel transform is employed to generate partial differential equations which are integrated numerically by method of characteristics.
