Cargo tunnel with ID of 33 ft 9 in. being driven at Heathrow Airport, London, Great Britain is further development of use of precast concrete segments, erected in rings without attachment between units and stressed against ground immediately behind tunnel shield; tunnel rings are 2 ft wide and 1 ft thick and comprise 27 segments, including two types of special segment, one type being used above and below jacking positions at axis level, other type forming center of tunnel invert; road slab is in form of T with central support and bearing each side of tunnel lining.
