Ultimate load design for R. C. tension members i roof trusses
Results of tests on reinforced concrete trusses to determine ultimate strength of their tension members and to investigate effect of rigidity of joints; six trusses of 9 ft span were designed so that failure of tension member was ensured in all cases, although amounts of reinforcement were different; theoretical first crack load and experimental values are compared; load deflection and extension curves and crack patterns are presented; ultimate load of tension member was found to be governed solely by yield strength of reinforcement bars.
