Circumferential moments in reinforced concrete tanks with earth load heaped on one side
Solution is obtained by considering cylindrical tube freely supported on both rib-stiffened ends and subject to external load uniformly distributed over part of circumference; membrane state of stress is assumed, and only circumferential moment and tangential force are calculated by theory of bending; numerical solution is obtained for tank with earth load extending over 2/3 of its circumference.
