Probabilistic structural analysis and design
Advantages of probabilistic design procedures are presented and compared with deterministic techniques; problem of compounding of hazards is illustrated by comparing series types of structure with parallel type of structure; design decision process for seismic loading is illustrated using statistical decision theory; formulation of optimization of decisions under uncertainty is considered.
