Test results of higher-mounted roadway luminaires
Tests were conducted by Illinois Div of Highways on feasibility of mounting luminaires at greater height; testing of luminaires, to measure their lighting effects, was conducted on unopened section of I-57, near 99th and Halsted Streets, on south side of Chicago; various size luminaires were provided and lighting units were placed such that same basic area was covered by four different systems; test results show that higher mounting of luminaires allows for greater spacing of poles and greater set-back distances from pavement edge; further plans.
