Production of low nitrogen stainless steel containing boron
Use of KhrB2 ferrochrome made by silicothermic process, added to melt and not to charge, makes it possible to reduce nitrogen content considerably when melting 18-15 grade boron stainless steel in induction furnace; this increases corrosion resistance and ductility of steel; use of iron-chrominum alloy is still more effective. (See also Stal n 12 Dec 1967 p 1092-4)
