Critical crack size in assessing brittleness of steel
Series of room temperature tests on specimens of St.3kp steel which has relatively low resistance to crack initiation, and from 12KhM steel were carried out to find relationship between critical crack size and crack initiation during impact bending; experimental data were plotted in form of bending angle vs absorbed energy; this was followed by determination of work of initiation and development of crack. (see also English translation in Indus Laboratory v 33 n 12 Dec 1967 p 1772-4)
