Erosion in concrete and rock due to spillway discharges
Picote ski-jump hydraulic and structural characteristics are compared with other important spillways; deep erosions formed by jet striking river bedrock; model tests to reproduce erosions observed in prototype and to predict possible development under discharges exceeding maximum recorded values are reported; erosion was found at outlets of bottom discharges of Miranda and Bemposta dams, which open into face of overflow dam; changes made to Bemposta design as result of observations derived from Miranda.
