Hydraulic design of spillway and outlets for 693-ft high concrete-gravity dam utilizes model studies; tainter valves provide upstream control in three outlet conduits; valves seal through action of eccentric-trunnion mechanism, which moves valve upstream against seals; outlet conduits enter spillway chute at point about midway between spillway crest and stilling basin; special training-wall arrangements are developed in model to minimize spray and spillway flow disturbances resulting from outlet portals in spillway chute.
