Velocity-gradient relationships for steady-state unsaturated flow of water in nonswelling artificial soils
Steady-state unsaturated flow velocity of water was studied as function of hydraulic gradient in horizontal columns of nonswelling mixtures of sand and ground silica, with and without kaolinite; soil-moisture tension was measured with internally positioned tensiometers, and various gradients were imposed without introducing moisture hysteresis; at given constant tension, flow velocity was essentially proportional to tension gradient.
