Theory of one-dimensional consolidation of saturated clays -- 1
Equations governing one-dimensional consolidation of fully saturated clay layer are derived on basis of assumptions more general than those usually adopted; consolidation of thin clay layer, self-weight stresses of which are negligible compared with those applied, is examined in detail; nonhomogeneity, time-effects intrinsic to soil skeleton and compressibility of pore fluid are incorporated in theory.
