Slide behaviour and shear resistance of quick clay determined from study of landslide at Selnes, Norway
Location and shape of initial slide provided opportunity to estimate from stability calculations in terms of effective stress shear-strength parameters of this quick clay; similar values were obtained from drained triaxial tests on undisturbed samples performed at stresses similar in magnitude to those in field; slide was witnessed and developed retrogressively due to occurrence of many small rotational slides, and on this basis it might have been expected that slip surface would be uneven.
