Shear strength of peat
Results are given of laboratory investigation of shear strength of remolded peat, which resembles clay in behavior; special difficulties caused by nonuniform water-contents, lengthy consolidation periods, time-dependent B coefficient, large volume changes, nonuniform swelling, and changing air-contents are discussed; reference is made to state boundary surface; Hvorslev's parameters are evaluated, as well as c' and phi'.
