Shear strength characteristics of "boom clay"
For new tunnel under Scheldt River at Antwerp thorough investigation was made to determine shear strength parameters of Boom clay, which is stiff fissured clay of Oligocene age; some special tests were performed in order to obtain more precise data concerning residual strength of this clay, which is of utmost importance for design of parameter slopes of accesses to tunnel.
