Relative quantity of smoke collected on filter paper is compared with observation determined by Rohm and Haas XP2 test; plot of wt% vs light absorption shows that, in general, 8 to 10% by weight of smoke from sample results in total light extinction; this data is important in designing rooms containing plastic structural materials, since decreased visibility due to smoke hinders escape from and fire fighting in burning structures.
