Thermal comfort (thermally neutral) conditions for three levels of activity
Study to determine thermally neutral temperature and zone for men and women with activity levels resulting in metabolic rates of approximately 600, 800, and 1000 Btuh for average male subject; results of study indicated that for metabolic rates tested thermally neutral temperatures were 72, 66 and 60 F, respectively; experimental program was carried out in KSU-ASHRAE environmental test chamber at Kansas State University; test subjects were 210 males and 210 females, with average age of 20 and 19 years.
