Analysis of haulage fatalities in bituminous-coal mines in 1950
Of 121 fatal injuries, 102 occurred underground and 14 on surface, 5 in strip operations; physical hazard was evident in 71% of fatalities, and was considered to be primary cause of 23%; unsafe practices were involved in 75% of fatalities and were considered to be primary cause of 29%; details on causes of accidents; recommendations for reducing haulage accidents.
