Cement works at Shoreham-By-Sea
Illustrated description of new highly mechanized works; process consists of calcining, at 2650 F, mixture of finely divided chalk and clay, in ratio of 3.8 to 1; to resulting clinker small proportion of gypsum is added; old chalk quarry, in which works are laid out, was worked as single face; new quarry will be benched; slurry calcined in two Vickers-Armstrongs rotary kilns.
