Standard Ottawa sand
Standard Ottawa is produced from St. Peter sandstone, which belongs to Cambrian period; near Ottawa, Ill., river has left sandstone with only thin covering of sandy loam; this dirt is removed with steam shovel and surface swept clean of all dirt, even to extent of digging into each crevice with small paddle, leaving clean sandstone exposed as first step from ledge to sack.
