Although author was convinced that flint formed aggregate that was almost as hard and as durable as any, difficulty lay in finding suitable binder; results of experiments; Colas is now applied direct from containers; chief essentials for successful flint grouting are well-drained foundation, well-scarified underbed, even distribution of binder, and clean shingle and sand; valley gravel makes excellent road at very low cost; cold emulsion in patching work.
