Subgrade studies of the bureau of public roads
Aim of studies is to furnish highway engineers with definite information; its objects are to determine: (1) practicability of varying type or design of road surface to suit subgrade conditions; (2) efficiency of various types of drainage, subgrade treatment and subbase; (3) relative economy of subgrade correction and change in pavement design as compensation for varying subgrade conditions.
