A platform for research: civil engineering, architecture and urbanism
This paper sets forth various tests made to detect internal flaws or defects in steel rails frequently described as hair cracks; two methods were employed, magnetization and treatment with dust in kerosene, and effect of reagent; chief features of interest revealed by microscopic examination are enumerated. (See also - discussion p 215-220 and 234, 13 figs)
