Perpetual-action sand barrier as a protection against firedamp explosions resulting from the spontaneous ignition of coal
Reviews various types of barriers, brattices and ventilation doors in use in Czechoslovakian mines for preventing firedamp explosions, these mines being exceptionally gassy; survey of these devices and their shortcomings led author to design barrier or dam for purpose of isolating mine fire where firedamp is abundant.
